While General Liability insurance protects against bodily injury and property damage, Professional Liability covers claims that arise from negligent acts, errors or omissions – mistakes, so to speak.  For example, let’s say an architect designs a bridge.  Part of that design would include specifications of the particular type of steel to be used for the supporting structure.  If a miscalculation results in an inadequate strength of steel and the bridge collapses, the architect could be held liable for damages stemming from the mistake.
