Commercial General Liability
Commercial General Liability insurance is often the hub of a business insurance program. It covers bodily injury or property damage that often results in a lawsuit and is caused by your negligence or your business operations. In addition to damages, general liability insurance also covers the cost of legal fees and other expenses that may stem from the occurrence. A standard commercial general liability policy includes six coverage limits:
General Aggregate – the maximum amount payable for all claims (except for products and completed operations) during the policy year
Products & Completed Operations Aggregate – the maximum amount payable for all claims stemming from your products or completed operations during the policy year
Personal & Advertising Injury – the maximum payable for each personal or advertising injury claim. (Includes claims arising from things like false arrest, detention or imprisonment; malicious prosecution; wrongful eviction; libel or slander; violation of another’s right of privacy; copyright infringement, etc.)
Each Occurrence – the maximum amount the policy will pay for any single occurrence or claim
Fire Damage Liability – pays for damage you cause to a rented or leased facility
Medical Payments – pays for first aid or medical expenses to a third party injured on your premises or workplace
The premium for Commercial General Liability insurance is based on the coverage limits you purchase and a factor that measures exposure, such as payroll, gross sales, area, etc.
